Why the TronLink USDT fee is so high
USDT on TRON is a smart contract, and every transfer spends two network resources: energy for running the contract and bandwidth for the transaction data. TronLink's own help center puts it plainly: transfers consume energy or bandwidth as the fee, and if you don't have enough, TRX is burned instead. If your available energy does not cover the transaction, the shortfall can burn TRX. Renting sufficient energy reduces that part of the cost; bandwidth remains separate.
For an example energy price of 100 sun per unit, compare these estimated resource amounts. Network parameters and contract resource use can change; check the current wallet estimate:
| Recipient | Energy needed | Burned with no energy | With rented energy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recipient currently holds USDT (example) | ≈ 65,000 | ≈ 6.5 TRX | 2.5 TRX (Basic) |
| Recipient currently has zero USDT (example) | ≈ 130,000 | ≈ 13 TRX | 5 TRX (Advanced) |
The USDT amount alone does not determine the resource cost. Check the recipient's current balance and your wallet estimate for each transfer. For the full breakdown, see How much is the USDT TRC20 fee?
TronLink energy rental in 6 steps
The whole thing is two ordinary transfers: a small TRX payment to rent the energy, then your USDT transfer. No sign-up, no wallet connection, no approvals.
- Confirm the wallet address you'll send USDT from. Open TronLink and check that the active account is the one holding the USDT you're about to send. If you have several accounts in TronLink, switch to the right one now. Keep about 1 TRX on top of the package price: a USDT transfer uses roughly 345 bytes of bandwidth, and once your 600 free daily bandwidth is used up, about 0.35 TRX gets burned for it.
- Send the exact TRX amount from that same address. Tap Transfer on the TronLink home screen and paste the payment address
TV5Nvtyh9aUbHg698pKYo6ZJBuNhrT5A9ras the recipient (always copy it from the pricing section on our homepage and check the first and last few characters). Choose TRX and enter the exact amount: 2.5 TRX for Basic, 5 TRX for Advanced, or a multiple of 2.5 for a Custom package. Review the details and sign. - Wait 3–6 seconds. Our system spots the payment and delegates energy to the address that paid. There's nothing else for you to do.
- Check that the energy has arrived. Look at your available energy in the wallet's Resources view. It should be up by about 65,000 for Basic or about 131,000 for Advanced. If the number hasn't updated yet, give it a few seconds and reopen the screen, or search your address on TronScan to see its resources.
- Send your USDT within 1 hour. Rented energy is only valid for an hour. Go back to the home screen, tap Transfer, enter the recipient address, pick USDT and enter the amount.
- On the confirmation screen, make sure it uses energy, not burned TRX. Before you sign, check the fee or resource details TronLink shows. With sufficient energy, that resource covers contract execution, but bandwidth may still burn TRX. If it still says roughly 6.5 TRX or 13 TRX will be burned, the energy either hasn't arrived or isn't enough. Don't sign; go back to step 4. The exact wording varies between TronLink versions, so go by what your screen actually shows.
TronLink says energy is insufficient after renting
- Confirm the payment succeeded. Check the TRX transaction hash and exact package amount.
- Compare sender addresses. Energy goes to the payment sender. An exchange withdrawal or another account does not supply your USDT wallet.
- Check delivery and expiry. Read available energy in the wallet or on TRONSCAN. Rentals expire after 1 hour.
- Recheck the transfer estimate. Energy and bandwidth are different resources. If energy is still short or the wallet still estimates a high TRX burn, resolve the shortfall before signing. See why USDT transfers burn TRX.
If you only hold USDT and have insufficient resources, this service still needs TRX payment. Add TRX to your own wallet first; do not send USDT to the rental payment address.
Basic or Advanced package?
Choose by the estimated energy shortfall, not just the recipient's transfer history. An address with a current zero USDT balance may need more energy even if it held USDT in the past. Wallet estimates take priority over the examples below.
| Your situation | Package | Energy delivered |
|---|---|---|
| Estimated energy shortfall up to 65,000 | Basic, 2.5 TRX | 65,000 |
| Estimated energy shortfall of 65,001–131,000 | Advanced, 5 TRX | 131,000 |
| Two transfers with a total shortfall up to 131,000 within the hour | Advanced, 5 TRX | 131,000 |
| Batch payouts | Custom, N×2.5 TRX | N×65,000 (5 TRX supplies 131,000) |
For an estimated 130,000-energy shortfall, Basic leaves 65,000 uncovered. At the example rate that can burn another 6.5 TRX, plus any bandwidth fee. If the shortfall exceeds 131,000, Advanced may also be insufficient. Check resources and use the USDT fee calculator before paying.
Four mistakes that cost people money
1. Paying with an exchange withdrawal
Energy is delivered to whichever address paid. When you withdraw TRX from an exchange directly to our payment address, the sender is the exchange's hot wallet, so that's where the energy goes, not your TronLink. Withdraw to your own TronLink first, then pay from there.
2. Sending the wrong amount
Overpaying, underpaying, or sending a non-package amount like 2 or 3 TRX means the order can't be matched automatically. If that happens, send the payment transaction hash to our Telegram support.
3. Waiting too long to send USDT
Energy is reclaimed after 1 hour. Line up the recipient address and amount before you pay for energy, not after.
4. Signing approvals on unfamiliar sites
Renting energy should never require more than a plain TRX transfer. Any "energy service" that wants you to connect your wallet, sign an approval, or hand over a recovery phrase is a red flag. Read Is TRON energy rental safe? for the common scam patterns.
Security note: we will never ask you to connect your wallet, sign an approval, or share a private key. Only use the payment address shown on our homepage, and double-check it before you send.
